Vast, a light art installation by Aly Indermühle in collaboration with the Sydney-based band Why We Run, invited you to enter a world where music and light intertwine. Inspired by the dreamy melodies of Why We Run's debut album, Holograms, Aly Indermühle created a multi-dimensional installation that captures the essence of their music.

The centrepiece of Vast was a collection of 12 luminescent poles that combined the power of nano computing and interactive pedals. These pillars of light were companions to the musicians on stage, establishing a symbiotic relationship between the performers and the radiant atmosphere that enveloped them.

On July 15, 2016, the Plan B Small Club in Sydney underwent a stunning transformation, unveiling an otherworldly spectacle as Vast unveiled its enchanting display. As the band took their positions on stage, their melodies intertwined with the interplay of light and shadow, creating an atmosphere of accessibility and experimentation.

Why We Run's music defies easy categorization, effortlessly traversing the realms of light and dark, mesmerizing and melancholic. Their sonic influences remain mysterious, refusing to be confined by traditional genre boundaries. As Vast wove its illuminating magic, it visually embodied the band's evocative and boundary-pushing musical style.
