Horizon was an extraordinary light installation that invited viewers on a captivating journey where audience, light, and space harmoniously intertwined. Shattering the confines of a sandstone wall, it unlocked a portal to an alternate realm—a breathtaking vista that unfolded before their eyes. The illumination of this installation, reminiscent of an arid central desert landscape, offered a mirage-like experience in its ethereal allure, stretching into the infinite distance.

The essence of Horizon was captured through a meticulously arranged series of vertical lights adorning the wall in an elegant procession. Gradually shifting from serene blues to fiery reds and vibrant oranges, these lights orchestrated a symphony of hues, bestowing upon the scene a mesmerising depth. The sandstone blocks, steeped in warm and textured tones, contributed to the tactile richness of the piece. At the same time, the illusory expanse of a radiant blue sky transcended the veil of night, serving as a poignant homage to the distinctive luminosity of the Australian landscape.

The artistic visionaries Aly Indermühle (Creative Director) and Balthasar Indermühle (Technical Director) of the collaborative team Indermühle Plus are profoundly moved by the natural luminous wonders that grace urban environments, the sprawling bush, and the vast outback. Their years on a secluded farm in remote New South Wales showed them lasting memories of awe-inspiring sunsets and sunrises with azure skies that never ceased to amaze. By fusing Aly's creative imagination and Balthasar's scientific acumen, they realised an aesthetically captivating creation—an embodiment of their reverence for the ephemeral beauty of natural light.

Combined, their experiences and expertise shaped Horizon into an art installation that transcended the boundaries of traditional lighting and transported viewers to a realm where the interplay of light and space evoked a sense of wonder and awe. The captivating journey that unfolded before the audience's eyes invited contemplation of the ephemeral nature of light and the vastness of the Australian landscape.
