hi, i'm aly indermühle!

i'm an illustrator and storyteller based in sydney, creating playful, character-driven work for children's books and young readers.

my illustrations are filled with whimsical animals, quirky characters, and colourful worlds that spark imagination and joy. i love crafting stories where every character has personality, whether it's a striped cat tangled in yarn, a bumblebee heading home, or a fox making friends with a butterfly. my work mixes bold shapes and hand-drawn line work with warm, textured colours that bring stories to life.

coming from a background in animation and fine art, i've spent years exploring how movement, light, and colour create joy and connection. that experience shows up in my illustrations through expressive characters, dynamic compositions, and scenes that feel like they're mid-adventure.

i've worked with clients including MTV productions and the US department of defense, my light installations have been featured at vivid sydney, and i hold an MFA from the national art school. but these days, my heart belongs to telling stories that make kids (and adults) smile.

i'm open to commissions, collaborations, and working with publishers globally.
